Transporter Messaging & Conduct Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

CritterRoute provides messaging so transporters and listers can communicate about potential pet transportation bookings.

The communication rules depend on the lister's CritterRoute access model.

1.Pay-to-Book Listers

Under the Pay-to-Book model, communication is restricted until the appropriate stage of the booking process has been reached.

Transporters may not attempt to bypass these restrictions by sharing or requesting direct contact information before it is permitted.

This includes:

  • Phone numbers
  • Email addresses
  • Social media or other direct-contact information
  • Websites or other direct-contact information
  • Information intentionally formatted or disguised to bypass CritterRoute's messaging restrictions

If CritterRoute's messaging system warns that contact information cannot be shared at the current stage, transporters must not attempt to work around that restriction.

2.Lister Subscription

Under the Lister Subscription model, the lister has paid for unrestricted communication access.

Transporters may communicate directly with these listers and may exchange phone numbers, email addresses, and other direct contact information as needed.

The restrictions that apply to Pay-to-Book listers do not apply to listers who have an active subscription that includes unrestricted communication.

3.Do Not Circumvent Restricted Communication

Transporters must follow the communication rules associated with the lister's current access model.

Attempting to bypass a Pay-to-Book communication restriction by spelling out phone numbers, disguising email addresses, using alternate formats, or otherwise attempting to defeat the messaging controls is prohibited.

4.Violations

During Early Access, a first violation will generally result in a formal warning documented on the transporter's account.

A subsequent violation may result in a 14-day suspension.

Repeated violations may result in permanent removal from CritterRoute.

Once paid lister bookings and paid access are fully active, CritterRoute may apply stronger enforcement, including immediate suspension for serious or deliberate attempts to circumvent the platform.

5.Serious Violations

CritterRoute reserves the right to take immediate action, including suspension or removal, when conduct is particularly serious, deliberate, deceptive, or creates a significant risk to another user or to the marketplace.

6.Follow the Applicable Communication Rules

Transporters are responsible for following the communication rules that apply to the lister they are communicating with.

Pay-to-Book: restricted communication until the appropriate booking/payment stage.

Lister Subscription: unrestricted communication because the lister has paid for the subscription that provides that access.

Our goal is to provide a marketplace that protects both pet owners and transporters while allowing the level of communication associated with the lister's chosen access model.
